hi, i'm a parts driver for a local car dealership. i drive all over the place, so i spend 8 hours behind the wheel everyday. i had bought a zune and used that for a while until my brother gave me his plug and play sirius radio since he bought a different one. i've been using it in my work truck since the end of march. i even took it with me on a road trip in april, 1600 miles, i don't think i could have done it with just cds or an mp3 player.

last week wednesday, the power cable that plugs into the cigarette lighter broke. i had to order a replacement cord, but i had to wait for it to be shipped to my house. i worked wednesday, thursday and friday without satellite radio [and my luck, i temporarily misplaced my zune to boot.] i had to listen to local radio for three days. omg, it sucked so bad.

but i'm thrilled because it came in the mail saturday, so i'll be okay again.

so in conclusion, i think i'd probably have killed somebody by now or just up and quit my job because driving around all day is definitely really lame without sirius, once you know the power of it.

..and i'm sad about the merge. a friend of mine has xm and i surfed the channels a bit. and it's definitely not as cool. the little dog beats the yellow rainbow any day.

the_wanderer27: Plug and Play Vs In-Dash

Alright. After about 2 years, my Sportster Replay is about to die. Also about to die is my car's stereo. So, I've been looking online, and it looks like for about $250 I could either get a new ipod ready car stereo and a P&P unit, OR I could get an in-dash sirius ready/ipod ready car stereo and tuner.

As I tend to use the internet stream at home and in the office, I won't miss the Plugginess and Playness of the unit. I do, however, love the FF/Rewind, the artist/title display, and the song seek functions.

Anyways, I'm looking for other subscribers' opinions. Have you any advice for me? More specifically:

What I know I wouldn't miss about the P&P: The wires everywhere, the somewhat shoddy connectivity, even with the FM Blocker, fiddling with the antenna in the car dock because it's come loose.

Does anyone have an in-dash unit and/or know what the features are? I know I can't FF or RW, but do they have a song/title display or a seek?
What are the +'s and -'s of each type of unit as you see it?

Thanks!

Could I get some opinions on the sirius stiletto 100. I'm thinking of getting one to use in my car and home. I purchased a car with 1yr. free and that is about to run out. I'm thinking of getting a car kit and something for the house instead of paying for 2 receivers since the one in my car isn't a true sirius radio it has no features for record or playback. I've been hearing things about bad reception with the stiletto, I just like to hear how any of you like it or not. Also I saw a stiletto boom box at circuit city for use anywhere but it was $150 and I'd like to know if there is something else sirius makes that is cheaper that is portable with headphones.

xchaos93x: Punk Channel 29

In case anyone didn't know starting yesterday channel 29 is now all punk all the time. I have been listening to it and really enjoying it. Anyone else had a chance to check it out, if not and you like punk you should.

hello!

I'm new here with a question.
my boyfriend bought a new car last year and it came factory installed with sirius. they gave him 3 months free and it worked perfect. after the 3 months was up he decided he didn't want to buy a plan.

over the weekend I decided to have his service re-activated as a birthday present.
we tried and tried but for whatever reason the signal never made it to his car and it wouldn't activate. we spent half a day on the phone with sirius tech support and in the end were told to bring it to the dealership.

this morning he brings it to the dealership and spends 2 hours there for them to say "we have no idea whats going on".

has anyone ever run into this kind of issue, and if so what was the solution?

thejeremy1: Newly discovered station

So I have now had Sirius for almost 3 years, and I just discovered last night Coffee House (station 30).  It is now one of my presets, great stuff.  And that is all.  Does anyone have any more news about the merger with XM and what it will mean for station selection?

I just got the Xact boombox and the radio antenna seems to be a piece of junk. It can't maintain a signal for more than ten minutes before you have to move it around. I've had it get (and loss) a signal in every corner of my room. Has anyone had this problem before or knows a good way to fix it? Thanks in advance.

So, with the news that Sirius and XM are trying to work out a merger, it got me wondering about which stations from each network are going to remain. And so, which 1 or 2 stations that are currently on Sirius will you be upset if they were to be dropped if the merger goes through? For me it would be Octane and Maxim Radion.
